“I have known Marcia for nearly seventy years. Not quite the full seventy as our mother Gwen was in hospital and I was as well (a different one – Great Ormand Street and very ill) although our mother Gwen (as was the pattern then) wasn’t told and thought that I was staying with her parents at Embassy Court in Brighton where they were living at that time. To me it’s just a number as I don’t think that we feel that different but just that events are now long in the past and some bits a bit creaky. Lots of good memories. When we were young and the age of Marcia’s grandchildren we grew up in a house on Canons Drive in North London. The house was good for entertaining and we had lots of parties (including Marcia’s wedding). When Marcia was young she always sang at her parties ‘On the good ship lollipop’ which mother reverted to with her advancing Alzheimer’s and wearing dresses perfectly made by our mother. I find it hard to believe we are now the age of our grandparents when we were young. Like our mother (and me) Marcia is always busy and always interested in new information. Onwards ever onwards.”
